Dr. Paula Cage, Head of School, Baltimore Campus

Dr. Paula Cage is excited to return for her 2nd year on the Baltimore team. She joined the Auburn School last year with 14 years of experience working in education in a variety of roles. Most recently, she spent 7 years with DC Public Schools, first their Special Education Coordinator and then as their Monitoring and School Support Specialist. Preceding her leadership positions with DCPS, Paula taught at such institutions as High Road Academy, Maryland International Day School, and The Goddard School. Since 2010, she has also served as an adjunct professor at the Community College of Baltimore County, where she has lectured in the field of child development. Paula holds a B.S. in Sociology from Bowie State University, a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Phoenix, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Management from Capella University, where she wrote her dissertation, Designing an Intervention to Increase Reading Levels of Students with Special Needs

Andy Hubner, Head of School, Silver Spring Campus

Andy comes to Auburn with over 20 years of experience as a talented special education leader in both private and public school systems. He started teaching as a Peace Corp volunteer in Guatemala, and continued his career as a teacher, principal and central office administrator within the DC metro area. During his tenure in education he also served as a content expert in special education for the U.S. Department of Education Race to the Top State Grant competition. He is currently working on his doctoral studies at Johns Hopkins University where he also served as adjunct faculty. He is licensed through the Maryland State Department of Education with endorsements as a Superintendent, Principal, Pupil Personnel Worker, Special Education Teacher and Political Science Teacher. Andy received his undergraduate degree from The Pennsylvania State University and holds two masters degrees, one in Student Counseling from The American University, and a second in School Administration and Supervision from McDaniel College.

Mr. Gast has been an educator for the last 18 years. He has, most recently, experience teaching at the elementary level as well as serving as the Department Chair for Special Education. As an Administrator, he served as an Assistant at the High School Level for three years. He has also served as a Dean of Students at the High School level. Prior to that, he served as the Coordinator/Instructor for the first Project SEARCH program in the Northern Virginia Area. Additionally, Mr. Gast has experience teaching students with Multiple Disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorders at the Elementary and Middle School levels.

Mr. Gast has his Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, his Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts Education from Mercyhurst University, and his Postgraduate Certificate in Special Education. He has been part of the Special Education Leadership Cohort V with the Virginia Department of Education and the Region Five Transition Council. He brings a strong background in curriculum development and academic principals, as well as understanding of the importance of cultivating social growth.

Mr. Gast resides in Bristow with his wife, two daughters, and his newfoundland. He enjoys hiking and painting with his daughter. Additionally,  Mr. Gast enjoys sports of all kinds and still plays Lacrosse in the Nothern Virginia and Maryland area.

Jannette Puisseaux, Director of Related Services

Jannette transitions to Auburn's leadership team with over 10 years of experience working as a behavior therapist for children with developmental and intellectual disabilities. After working as a behavior specialist at the Auburn School, she accepted the Social Learning Specialist position, taking the opportunity to bring her expertise on ABA closer to social learning. She worked at the Kennedy Krieger Institute for over 5 years developing and implementing behavioral assessments and interventions for children and providing consultation to parents and schools. Jannette received her B.S. in Psychology and her M.A. in Clinical and Health Psychology from the Complutense University of Madrid. She also completed an Applied Behavior Analysis program from Florida Institute of Technology. Jannette is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

Teasha Grant, Business Manager

Teasha joined the Auburn team in March 2017 after over 13 years in her previous position. She came to Auburn with a wealth of knowledge in billing and accounts receivables, and created the billing dept by developing central systems and processes to ensure accurate and timely billing and payments. Teasha works with Auburn Schools and their sister division Little Leaves Behavioral Services as she continues building systems and relationships in the finance department.

Erik is a highly respected education leader. In 2006, he established The Siena School in Silver Spring, MD. The Siena School has quickly become one of Washington, D.C.’s leading private schools. The school and its staff have earned several honors, along with accolades from area educators, community leaders and the media, including The Washington Post, Washington Diplomat and WUSA–Channel 9. Previously, Erik was on the founding team and management committee of Victory Schools, a national leader in the charter school and public education reform movements. In 2003, he was awarded a Broad Fellowship in the Broad Foundation Superintendents Academy, one of the nation’s most prestigious educational leadership training programs. He began his career in finance with Goldman Sachs and J.P. Morgan, before joining New Mountain Capital, a premier private equity investment firm. He has served on governing boards of the Atlantic Seaboard Dyslexia Education Center, the Mental Health Association of Montgomery County, and Calvert Education Services, one of the nation's oldest homeschooling organizations. Erik holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.S. in systems engineering with high honors from the University of Virginia.
